TERLANO
Principal Grape: Muller Thurgau
Origin: Alto Adige, Italy
Price: $17
Growin in Germany and Austria as well as in Italy's Alpine region of Alto Adige, Muller-Thurgau is an oft-neglected grape. Sometimes it's overlooked because of poor growing conditions; only a few vineyards are able to yield grapes that explode with personality. But when they get it right, the wine is citrusy, floral, and edgy with a vibrant almost kinetic, minerality. Live-wire whites like this are a perfect complement to creamy Italian cheeses.
