In retrospect, I should've been in some sports clubs in junior high school.
I was good at gymnastics but there was no gym club activity at school at that time.
I tried to be in a volleyball club but I had skin trouble on my hands,
so I had to quit it. In high school, they have a gymnastics club
but I hesitated to join it and didn't.（after all)
今にして思えば、中学で運動クラブに所属すべきだったなぁ～
器械体操が得意だったのに、当時中学校には体操クラブがなかった。
バレーボールクラブに入ってみたが、手が荒れちゃったので
やめなければならなかった。高校には 体操クラブはあったんだけど、
躊躇しちゃって入らなかったんだ。

In retrospect 「今思うと」や「振り返ってみると」
当時は分からなかったが後になって気づいたり理解する時に使われ、
状況によっては多少後悔の気持ちを表すときによく使われます😤
例えば、「今思うと〜すべきだった」は
“In retrospect, I should have 〜.” のように表します👍🏻
“Looking back”も同じ意味を持ち、どちらを使ってもOKです！
