Imperial Japanese Navy Destroyer SUZUZUKI
April 1945, Operation Ten-Go

The system-injection kit based on her, has been completed.
Existing reference materials, which are largely unreliable, were only used as a general guide. We primarily relied on newly discovered footage and photographs, as well as official documents preserved at the National Archives of Japan, Japan Center for Asian Historical Records (JACAR), to conduct credible research. This has allowed us to create a definitive historical rendition of the Suzuzuki as it appeared in 1945.
As a result, I've found errors in a relatively large number of widely accepted theories.

However, some accurate details were discovered during her construction process that, regrettably, couldn't be reflected in the model.
For instance, I used brass to represent the linoleum retaining strips and applied a taper to the stern, among other things.

This is an overhead, top-down view, similar to well-known photos of anti-aircraft combat, "operation Ten-Go".

Suzuzuki has its entire receiver for the observation and communication device ( infrared optical receiver ) in a different position compared to other Akizuki-class destroyers. It seems to have even fewer blind spots than Fuyutsuki. The shape of Suzuzuki's second turret aerial mast is of the Kiyozuki-class type.

The bridge is also the very late-model Kiyozuki-class type. There's no linoleum on the forecastle, and the inside of the bulwarks and the anchor chain deck are galvanized.

Unlike Fuyutsuki, the cutters (lifeboats) were removed along with their davits, and single machine guns were added. The cookhouse funnel, unlike Fuyutsuki's, extends further back, behind the main funnel.

The Kikusui (chrysanthemum and water) mark was depicted behind the circle mark "●" on the funnel, but it's omitted here due to the lack of a decal.

The late-war Kure Naval Arsenal camouflage on the hull might have been even bluer.

The bow has changed from a clipper type to the state-of-the-art Kiyotsuki-class type (the recognition as a simplified version is, in a way, incorrect). It's the only Akizuki-class destroyer with a bulbous bow below the waterline, where a state-of-the-art sonar was installed. The anchor chain deck during Operation Ten-Go appears to have had some color, based on photos, so I've assumed (though it might be incorrect) that latex was spread on it for anti-slip purposes.

The triple machine gun mount behind the third turret needs to be modified to the Akizuki-class type. Also, only Suzuzuki had a single machine gun bulwark installed on top of the deckhouse.

The Type 13 radar on the aft mast is offset to the left, and the Type 13 radar on the foremast is offset to the right.

The linoleum on the aft deck was partially peeled off and used as is. Depth charge rails were installed, and the depth charge launching platform was removed.

The stern section has also been changed to the state-of-the-art Kiyotsuki-class type, so unlike the Akizuki-class, there is no taper at the stern.

Fuyutsuki was almost certainly painted in the same late-war Kure Naval Arsenal camouflage as Suzuzuki, but due to time constraints for research, I ended up applying the conventional paint scheme. However, the linoleum retaining clips are correctly represented as galvanized, not the incorrect brass. I mistakenly represented Suzuzuki's as brass, which is incorrect. I deeply regret this oversight.

My attention to detail was too lax.

From this angle, the colors and atmosphere are very close to the color photo of "Suzuzuki in September."

This is a genuine color photograph, not a colorization.

This is sample digital data of the actual body color of Suzuzuki (late-war Kure Naval Arsenal camouflage) after image analysis.

Key Historical Research Points for Suzuzuki:
(※) indicates unique features that aid in identifying Suzuzuki.

The ship's name is "Suzuzuki" (〇 すずづき), not "Suzutsuki" (× すずつき).
Based on various official documents held by the National Archives of Japan, Japan Center for Asian Historical Records.

The front half of the hull (engine section only) is the original "Suzuzuki" form.
Due to repeated damage, the forecastle and stern are of the late-production "Kiyozuki" type.
The shape of the bow/stern fairleads is the functional "Kiyozuki" type. (※)
The bow transitions from the "Akizuki"-class clipper bow to a straight shape above the waterline, characteristic of the "Kiyozuki" type. (※)
Below the waterline, there is a bulge like a bulbous bow, housing a new type of sonar. (※)
The bridge is the "Kiyozuki" type, not a simplified version. (※)
The stern shape is the "Kiyozuki" type, with no taper.
The triple machine gun bulwark forward of the No. 3 turret is "Akizuki" type.

A single 25mm machine gun is installed on the aft deckhouse. (※)

The galley funnel extends aft beyond the main funnel. (※)

The positions of the Type 2 Signal Receiver (all-receiver) and the 60cm searchlight differ from other Akizuki-class destroyers. (※)

There is no linoleum on the forecastle deck. (※)

Linoleum retaining strips are made of galvanized steel (brass is incorrect).
Applies to all ships rolled out after 1937.

All four 13mm single machine guns on the bridge were removed by December 1944.

    Type 13 Air-Search Radar:
The forward mast is offset diagonally to the right.
The aft mast is offset diagonally to the front-left.

Various bulwarks are at most 1m in height; machine gun bulwarks beside the funnel are 40-50cm.

Depth charge launching racks were removed and depth charge rails were installed during maintenance in December 1944.

Stern aft smoke screen emitters were removed.

    Hull Color:
For only 2-3 months after commissioning, the Maizuru Naval Arsenal color was used.
Thereafter, maintenance was performed every 3-4 months, with Kure Naval Arsenal color applied each time.
Although the exact timing is unknown, the Kure Naval Arsenal late-war camouflage was applied by at least the end of December 1944.
The forecastle and inside the bulwarks were almost entirely unpainted galvanized.
Ship's superstructures had no single color; turrets, for example, were Kure Naval Arsenal color.

At the Time of Operation Ten-Go Representation:
Partial coloring on the anchor deck (actual status unknown).
        Possibility of latex application.
        Possibility of steel plate replacement.
        Possibility of leftover paint application.
Many areas aft of the No. 4 turret on the stern lacked linoleum.
The 7m cutter davits were removed, and single machine guns were installed.
Large motorboats and davits were present.
The "Kikusui Mark" (Chrysanthemum Water Mark) was located behind the funnel's individual ship identification mark (●).
The locations of the 24 single machine guns are almost completely clarified.

*All definitive evidence for each point has been published in previous articles.
