this evening. 

I am now writing 

both in English and in Japanese,

but the messages 

do not have the same contents,

イツクシマです。

とりあえず大人猫代表で

添付してみました…

This is Itsukushima, 

who was born to Ume chan 

as one of the fourth set 

of kittens. 

Ume chan came from Hiroshima, 

so my family wanted to 

name her after 

something to do with Hiroshima. 

さて

大人猫は我が家に23匹います

と思った方は

と思われたことでしょう。

でも、どうでしょう

想像しているよりは金額的には

かかっていないような…

1ヶ月あたり

   ・ ロイカナセンシブル 

        15キロ 1〜2袋 

      （1袋 1万円くらい）

   ・ 猫のトイレ砂 12袋くらい 

      （1袋あたり800円くらい）

もちろん ワクチン代なども

かかりますが

毎月ではないし

さいたま価格は東京の都心よりも

かからないように思います

猫様たちが健康でいてくれれば

それほどきつくはないですよね

（猫風邪 が我が家に吹き荒れた

1ヶ月前くらいは

確かに鼻血モノの出費で

毎日のように数千円〜

1万7、8千円かかりました。

でもまあ、

1週間くらいですけどね。

なおキーちゃんと

ジュリーちゃんを猫風邪で

連れて行った最終の回は

「さあ、いくらかかるか」と

腹をくくって行ったのですが

「760円です」とか

言われたような？？

どういう病院でしょう。

そのときもキーちゃんのお薬は

もらいましたよ。）

Now I take care of 

23 grownup cats, 

and you may think 

feeding and taking care 

of their toilets are a source 

of headache. 

Well, not really. 

Here are things I buy 

per month:

  ・ One or two 15 kg packages

     of Royal Canin 

     'Sensible' 

     (about 10,000yen per bag)

   

  ・ about 12 bags of 

       cat toilet sand 

       (800 yen per bag)

As a matter of course, 

from time to time 

I have to go to a vet. 

Actually when a cat flu 

swept through my house 

a month ago, 

I had to pay about 

several thousand yen 

to fifteen thousand yen 

almost every other day, 

which was a big blow 

to my account. 

But it is a temporary thing, 

and not permanent. 

Vaccination too could 

cost some, but not every month. 

So all in all it's pretty manageable.

…で、今回 K9も

彼らの食事に加えてみようか

と思っているわけですが

これをメインに

食べるわけではないので

せいぜい1ヶ月1〜2袋かなあと

（一袋 5700円くらい）

もちろん 飼い主たる私の健康が

重要で、かつ、お給料があることが

大前提ではありますが！

Now I have decided 

to add K9, 

which is freeze-dry food 

made of lamb and chicken 

from New Zealand. 

It is about 5700 yen 

per bag (320gram). 

Pretty expensive, yes, 

but this is not main dish 

for them 

(I just sprinkle pieces of it 

over their usual food). 

So providing I am in good shape 

and employed 

just as I am now, 

I can manage to continue 

to take care of them. 

Of course, I sometimes worry 

'what if I get sick?' 

or 'what should I do 

if I get unemployed??' 

But at the same time 

I might find even 

a better employment 

or salary in the future. 

Any possibility is open to me, 

or for that matter, 

open to everyone.  

あ、そういえば

冬の暖房代と夏の冷房代は

かかるな〜！

ひと月5万円とかあったような…。

（まあ、でもこれは家人が

暑がり、かつ、寒がりで

経済観念が乏しく、

かつ、経済力がないせいかも…

（＾◇＾）困ったもんだよね

さらに猫の出入りしない部屋で

冷暖房のスイッチ消し忘れとか）

  

I suppose taking care of 

a human being is 

much more costly than of cats. 

When cats do 

something mischivous, 

I can laugh out loud. 

But when it comes to 

occasional careless mistakes 

like forgetting to turn off 

airconditioner by a human, 

I really feel exasperated, 

since I am the one 

who always pay for the bill.
