　After almost four weeks of sometimes violent protest across France, President Emmanuel Macron delivered a televised adress to the nation Dec. 10 to plead for calm. In his brief address, Macron promised broad tax relief for struggling workers and pensioners- and acknowledged his own responsibility in the fueling the protester's anger. But he did not offer to resign, a key demand of many protesters.
